The Waiting is the Hardest Part

I was able to get into my dermatologist today. He was completely flummoxed by what he was seeing. At first he described it as "crusty" (I would describe it as broken skin). He tried to break it open a little more and saw the black part. He couldn't explain the bruise. He told me he "thinks" it's nothing but took it off. So, now another biopsy that I'm waiting on.

Making small talk after you've gotten your fifth skin lesion off in 3 weeks is not the most enjoyable experience, but that's what I had to do with the nurse as she took me to check out. I got into my car and just started to cry. I am so, so, so worried.

  1. I know, but I"m glad he took it off. You've got a good, proactive dermatologist! I wish there were more. Give him a hug from Hotel Melanoma's Chaplain Boss Queen and tell him :thank you" for me. (It's OK to cry.) Prayers all of this comes out to be nothing, but if it does, make sure your dermatologist refers you to a melanoma specialist for follow-up...no matter what. Get staged and in the hands of a mel spec from the beginning. Blessings!

  2. Oh, Carol....I have already been researching like mad to find a melanoma oncologist in my area, just in case....I am really hoping it doesn't come to that....I will tell my dermatologist you approve :-)

  3. I sure hope you don't check into the Hotel Melanoma. The AIM at Melanoma Foundation webpage has a 'doc finder' function if you should need a melanoma specialist. Take care. Rich

  5. Hi Penelope

I love your blog. I am also on the Rollercoaster of Waiting for Results. My left little toe has been in the pathology in-basket since last Thursday. I am hoping/dreading to hear from the surgeon today or tomorrow. MPC has just been a great resource. It calms me to read I am not alone and to join in prayer for others....including you.

You are in my thoughts and prayers
